Qutub Festival

The Qutub Festival of Classical Music and Dance is a three-day festival held in the premises of the Qutub Minar. The Qutub Minar was built by Qutub-ud-din-Aibak back in 12th century 230 feet, the Qutub Minar is an ancient architectural wonder that has stood the ravages of time to remain one of the top tourist attractions of Delhi. The Minar has the distinction of being the tallest free-standing stone tower in the world.

The Qutub Festival of Classical Music and Dance is generally held in the month of November-December to commemorate the historical importance of Qutub Minar. Organized in association with Delhi Tourism, the Qutub Cultural Festival showcases the rich grandeur of India and its cultural accomplishments in the various forms of dance and music. This way, the Qutub Music and Dance Festival serves a two- way purpose: by attempting to bring the grand heritage monument in limelight and by providing a platform for preservation of classical Indian art and tradition.

During the festival, people throng to Qutub Minar to see the cultural performance by the famous popular Indian artists who put up a musical extravaganza par excellence. Back dropped against the giant floodlit Qutub Minar, the shows are hauntingly beautiful. The Qutub Festival of Classical Music and Dance brings to whole place alive with the echoes of soulful melodies and rhythm of the ghungroos. Visitors to this exotic dance festival can expect to see classical dance performance such as Kuchipudi, Odissi, Manipuri, Bharatnatyam and other classical dance performances by reputed artists, listen to beautiful renditions of ghazals and qawwalis and be mesmerized by Sarangi and sitar recitals. Some of the famous artists that have graced the Qutub Festival in Delhi are Sonal Mansingh, Ustaad Ahmad Hussain, Guru R.K. Singhajit Singh, and Aruna Narayan Kalehave, Bhajan Sopori and many more.

The festival attracts hordes of visitors, amongst which a sizeable portion are foreigners eager to glimpse the rich cultural heritage of India. As your eyes feast on the cultural extravaganza of music and dance, treat your palate to culinary delights that are available at the stalls put up by different states.
