The annual Sangat Music festival at the Tata Theatre in Mumbai is a homecoming for the Indian musical diaspora. The Indian classical music festival features performances by Indian vocalists and instrumentalists who have settled abroad.
By far the most famous non-resident Indian musician is the tabla maestro Zakir Hussain. But there are more than a dozen major performers who now live in Europe or the US and most of these migrate southwards to India each winter. A few non-Indian musicians are also scheduled to thrill the audience with their Hindustani classical renditions, notably Andrew Mariner, a clarinet player from England.
