About Albert HallAmidst the beautiful Ram Niwas Garden, surrounded by pools, fountains and rows of flowerbeds stands the exquisite Albert Hall, built on 1886 A.D. It is also known as the Central Museum. Designed by Colonel Sir Swinton Jacob who has crafted other Palaces of Rajasthan, built the Albert hall in honor of the King Edward VII visit to Jaipur, in Indo-Saracenic style. The majestic edifice houses a collection of paintings a few hundred years old, exquisite jewelry, chiselled brasswares, pottery and natural stones, ivory goods, metal sculptures and crystal works. A section of the museum displays Egyptian mummy and another section exhibits dolls and toys of various countries. Through the displays of costumes, pottery, brassware and woodwork one can catch a glimpse of the life style of Rajasthani village.
The Durbar Hall, which is usually locked, has the most magnificent Persian Garden Carpet. Made in Kerman, Persia the design depicts the Garden of Paradise.A section of the Albert Hall exhibits dolls and toys of various countries Dolls Museum, the most fascinating museum of Jaipur displaying dolls from various countries in their traditional costumes holds great attraction for tourists all around the country. Children are fascinated at the display of thousands of dolls in different attires. The Dolls museum in Jaipur exhibits dolls of different countries representing their culture and tradition.
This includes an exquisite collection of metalware, miniature portraits, sculptures, paintings, natural history specimen, even an Egyptian mummy and other objets d'art. Within Albert Hall, Rajastani village life is showcased through costumes of the various regions, the pottery work, brassware and woodwork. The Durbar Hall houses several exquisite carpets including the magnificent Persian Garden Carpet, the world's largest carpet of its kind, and one of India's finest art treasures. The carpet was woven in Kerman, Persia in 1632, and depicted the Garden of Paradise.It includes the lifestyle of the tribals such as Meenas, Bhopas, Bhils, Gadoliya Lohars and many more. One gallery has also been committed to the henna body art of Rajasthan, popularly called as 'Mehndi Mandana', which makes an exhibition of the typical Rajasthani motifs and designs that are so well recognized as ethnic all over the world.
