Madhav Vilas Palace in Shivpuri :
The Madhav Vilas Palace is also known as Mahal due to its colossal size and graceful appearance. There is a fantastic terrace atop, and the rooms are well bedecked with white marbles. The place of worship has an idol of Lord Ganesha, and is popularly known as Ganapati Mandap, Mandap in Hindi stands for a temple.From the terrace of the Madhav Vilas Palace one can get an impressive view of the town of Shivpuri. Shivpuri has a National Park also known as Madhav National Park. In the Madhav National Park one can see some of the exquisite animals like Royal Bengal Tigers and Indian Bison, there are also other animals which are on the verge of extinction.
George Castle in Shivpuri :
The George Castle is located in the central region of the jungle at Shivpuri. In front of it is the iridescent aquamarine expanse which is also known as Sakhya Sagar. This is a beautiful lake that offers water to the animals who comes here to drink water during the night. So, night is the right time to view these animals. George Castle offers an excellent view of the wild animals and a stay here ensures security to the travelers.
Sakhya Sagar Lake in Shivpuri :
The animals generally reside in the water of the Sakhya Sagar Lake. Therefore a railing has been constructed circumscribing the Lake, to enable the tourists have a view of the graceful lake. There is also a Broad Pier and a Boat Club; this is an elegant structure with a glass pane. This is also known as the Sailing Club. Once you stand at the railing of the mesmerizing river, you can hardly come back from the graceful site. Chhatris in Shivpuri :
The Chhatris of Shivpuri are built of marble. They are very beautifully decorated. The elegance of the embellishments is indeed very admirable. The Chhatris of Madho Rao Scindhia and his queen Maharani Sakhya Raje Scindhia stand facing each other and there is a water tank in between. The Chhatris are a unique blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. They have shikhara type spires and there are several pavilions that bear close resemblance to Rajput and Mughal pavilions. Life size portraits of the Scindhias are there within the Chhatris and these are religiously worshipped with flowers and incense.
How to reach Shivpuri :
The nearest airport is Gwalior. Flights link Gwalior to Delhi and Mumbai. There is a railway station at Shivpuri but for those who want to avail the railways, Gwalior is a better option. This is because several important trains from different parts of the country halt at Gwalior. It is very easy to reach Shivpuri from Gwalior. Buses ply at regular intervals. Buses also link Shivpuri to other important towns of Madhya Pradesh like Bhopal, Indore, Jhansi and Ujjain.
