Tourist Attractions In Amarkantak - Amarkantak is regarded primarily as a religious place that is located in the hills of the Maikal Mountain Range. This mountain range is considered to be the connector of the Vindhyas and the Satpuras. Mythology and Tradition has been integrally associated with Amarkantak.

It is said in the Mythologies that the daughter of Lord Shiva, Narmada flows through this region thereby making it sacred and auspicious. Numerous temples have been erected here and they are dedicated to Mother Narmada, considered as a Goddess, a Life giving soul of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Almost 12 temples are there and people gather her to have glimpse of those temples when they come for a tour to Madhya Pradesh. Amarkantak is famous for the availability of various Ayurvedic medicinal plants and they are said to have life giving property according to the Mythological Legend. The main places of attraction at Amarkantak are:

Narmada Mandir Group of Temples: The Narmadeshwar Temple is regarded as the most brilliant and popular temple in the entire region of Amarkantak. It is dedicated to the Mother Goddess Narmada.

Dhuni Pani  :

Dhuni Pani in Amarkantak is a natural Hot Spring. In the Indian Mythology it is thought that the water of the spring has an elixir like property by which it can heal the people from fatal diseases. So, people from all over the world try to take a dip in the hot spring so that their diseases are cured and they are relieved from the chronic pains.

Kapiladhara :

There is also an adjacent garden near the Kapiladhara. It is a place of great attraction for the tourists because of the bedecked garden. The lovely waterfall looks heavenly when light falls on it and it reflects the heritage of the Indians. Amidst the woods, the water creeps down the wood like a rippling cascade.

Dugdhdhara : 

In Hindi the term Dugdhdara means the shower of milk. The waterfall at Amarkantak is also known as the Dugdhdhara. Since the water falls from a high distance to the ground just like milk white cascade it is also known as the Dugdhdhara.

Amarkantak is also rich in numerous plants and shrubs that have an elixir-like property; by virtue of this, one can be cured from a fatal sickness and also chronic diseases can be cured by these shrubs and plants. One can rely on the Indian Mythology, and only then they would know the charm of the waterfall of Dugdhdhara.

Narmada Ugdam : 

Narmada Ugdam has risen from the Jata of Lord Shiva and therefore it is also known as Jata Shankari. According to the legend Lord Shiva sent River Narmada to bless the inhabitants of the earth with peace and serenity. There is also a temple located at the point of origin of the River Narmada. This is also known as the Narmada Ugdam. Amarkantak lies in the region between the Vindhyas and the Satpuras. Deeply embedded in Indian Mythology this place also attracts numerous tourists.

The Narmada Ugdam is the main source of tourist attraction in India. It is believed that Lord Shiva along with his daughter named Narmada used to stay at this place and so, the place has gained prestige and privilege from the people of the regions far across.
