About the Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh :
Omkareshwar, the sanctified island, is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India. The island of Omkareshwar is shaped in the form of the holiest of all Hindu religion symbols, 'Om'. Omkareshwar is at the confluence of the River Narmada and River Kaveri and the temple has the Jyotiralinga, which is one of the twelve Jyotiralingas throughout India. The devotees gather in thousands every year just to kneel before the idol of Lord Shiva.
The island has two lofty hills and is divided by a valley in such a way that that it appears in the shape of the holy Hindu symbol, 'Om' from the top view. Between the hills of Vindhya ranges on the North and The hills of Satpura ranges on the South, River Narmada forms a very deep and silent pool, which was earlier full of alligators and fish. But they were surprisingly tame enough and were fed by humans. This deep pool formed by the river is 270 feet below the cantilever type bridge.
