Tamil Nadu the beautiful land of Tamils is very close to Pondicherry, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This attractive state is a home of religion. There are many religious places in Tamil Nadu . Being in this wonderful south Indian state you can visit end number of temples and churches. However, if you are also interested in seeing mosques then again you need not be worried. There are many mosques in Tamil Nadu.

Some of the popular mosques in Tamil Nadu are listed below :

Goripalayam Mosque: this large mosque has tombs of two Delhi sultans of the Madurai sultanate. This famous mosque boasts of 70 feet broad and 20 feet high dome made of a single block of stone.

Makka Masjid: this prominent mosque in Chennai is very big. It can manage hundreds of worshippers at a time.

Masjid Mamoor: built in 18 th century this mosque holds importance for the Muslims of Mannady area in Chennai.

The Grand Mosque: set up by Nawab Wallajah, this mosque is very popular.

Thousand Lights Mosque: this beautiful mosque carries the sayings from the Holy Koran on its walls. This cream colored and multi domed mosque is located in the heart of the Chennai city.

Chowk Maidan Masjid: this dharga was constructed in 1736 opposite to town hall. It was built for the Muslim soldiers by Rani Mangamal.

Begam Sahiba Masjid: this masjid was built by the Begam Sahiba of Kerala.

Pannadibee Dargah : at this dargah bodies of the children of Babu john were buried. During the annual celebration of Sandanakoodu festival in the month of saber large number of Hindus and Muslims gather here.

Kanmian Masjid: this masjid was built in the memory of Prophet Kanmiyan Sasith who came to Tiruchi from Arabia. In this masjid large number of Islamic people gathers to offer prayers.

Kajamalai Dargah: in the month of Rafiul Ahir the annual festival is carried out at the dargah to commemorate the burial of Hazarah Kaja Syed Ahamadullah Shah.
